M.J. van Riel invests in a new 800-tonne telescopic crane

Wednesday 25 February 2026

M.J. van Riel is further expanding its crane fleet with an impressive 800-tonne telescopic crane from Liebherr. Delivery of this new heavy mobile crane is scheduled for January 2027.

With this investment, M.J. van Riel responds to the continued growth in heavy and complex lifting operations and further strengthens its position in the market for heavy lifting projects, industrial relocations, and exceptional transport.

From 700 tonnes to 800 tonnes: a logical next step

The expansion builds on the strong development of crane capacity in recent years:

  • In April 2019, the first 700-tonne telescopic crane was commissioned

  • Shortly afterwards, a 500-tonne mobile crane was added

  • This was followed by a second 700-tonne crane

Due to the growth in large-scale projects and the increasing demand for higher lifting capacities, M.J. van Riel is now taking the next step with the acquisition of this new 800-tonne telescopic crane.

Ready for the next generation of large-scale projects

This investment aligns seamlessly with the structural growth in heavy transport and large crane projects. By continuously investing in modern equipment, M.J. van Riel remains at the forefront of innovation, safety, and capacity.
