Successful lifting and transport project in Son with 700-tonne telescopic cranes

Tuesday 19 August 2025
Last week, M.J. Van Riel carried out a special project in Son. Using two 700-tonne telescopic cranes and our SPMT, we unloaded, moved and finally positioned a drum weighing no less than 160 tonnes. The project took two days and required extreme precision and teamwork.

Day 1: unloading and transporting the drum

On day 1, the drum arrived by inland vessel from Germany. On site, we unloaded the 160-tonne load using our 700-tonne telescopic cranes and then placed it on our Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT). This allowed us to drive the drum safely and in a controlled manner to the correct location on the site.

Day 2: hoisting and positioning

The next day was devoted to hoisting and precisely positioning the drum. This precise work required not only the right equipment, but also close coordination between our crane operators and transport team. Thanks to the right preparation, this phase also went smoothly.

Teamwork and precision

This two-day project is a fine example of what we at M.J. Van Riel can achieve together. Thanks to good teamwork, craftsmanship and reliable equipment, we deliver complete solutions for hoisting, heavy transport and machine relocation throughout the Netherlands.
