Back to 1933

An impressive operation in the heart of Schiedam. Since 1993, hidden in a canal house, there stood a complete Scotch whisky distillery.

Narrow lifting operations

After 30 years, the kettles are on their way to make whisky again. Using a 3×3-metre roof hatch, we used a 50-metre tower crane to lift the boilers, the largest of which has a diameter of 2.90 metres, out of the building.

Preparations

For this special logistics operation, we had to completely close a through road, including applying for a traffic exemption and setting up two diversion routes.

Transport

The boilers were then lifted out via the roof and loaded onto several trucks for transport to their new destination: Rotterdam Zuid, where they will be recommissioned.
